Purpose #99: Dr. Gina Guillaume - From Trauma To Testimony Through Trust

Keith Sconiers Season 1 Episode 99

In today’s episode, I had the opportunity to talk with Dr. Gina Guillaume.

Born to Haitian parents and raised in the Bahamas, Dr. Gina Guillaume’s journey to medicine is one of perseverance, faith, and a deep commitment to serving others. As a first-generation college graduate, she earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Barry University in Miami, Florida, and later completed her Master of Health Science at Drexel University in Philadelphia. She then pursued her medical degree at the prestigious Howard University College of Medicine, a place that solidified her passion for addressing health disparities and uplifting marginalized communities.

Today, Dr. Guillaume fosters work-life balance while continuing her mission in Family Medicine roles at local clinics across Oregon. She also dedicates her time to inspiring future generations by speaking to high school and college students about her journey to medicine, encouraging the enrollment of more Black doctors.

What I appreciate about our time together is Dr. Gina Guillaume’s courage, transparency, and generosity in sharing her story, pain, and purpose.
